Prince St.

24in x 36in x 2in

Mixed media on wood panel finished in resin.

Prince is wearing a purple RUN DMC style outfit. The tattoo on his eyebrow reads “Minneapolis” which is the city is where he was from. The three tears under his right eye are a hint at his album “Purple Rain”. His neck has a big “1978” tattoo, which was the year his first record came out. He also has a barbed wire tattoo on his forehead, which symbolizes him being special as he was not always understood. The letters N and R in yellow circles on the jacket stand for NYC subways lines that take one to Prince street station, hence the title of the piece.
