In this portrait of artist Keith Haring the tattoo over his eyebrows “Crack is wack” is a reference to the famous mural he did in the 80s that has not only become one of his most famous works but also gave name to the playground where it is still located. The jawline tattoo “Kutztown, PA” stands for the town where the artist was raised. It was then when his is interest in art first appeared: spending his time with the family as a child he often watched his father, an amateur cartoonist, drawing. Haring’s early influences included Walt Disney cartoons, Dr. Seuss, Charles Schulz, and the Looney Tunes characters in The Bugs Bunny Show. The snake tattooed on his cheek is one of his famous snakes.
